Morrél Le Pharaon Soprano & Alto
The Le Pharaon saxophones are fantastic instruments to play and are the best built saxophones I’ve encountered.
My saxophone playing takes me from small group jazz to big band sax sections, to pit orchestras to symphony playing and I’ve been looking for instruments that have a rich enough sound to take into all those environments and be completely comfortable.
Mouthpiece and reed changes are important to that flexibility but the horn needs to be able to excel in all those areas, too.
For years, my instruments were good jazz horns but I never felt at home in more classical environments. With the Le Pharaon saxophones, that is no longer the case.
They have a rich sound that “sings”.
They have impeccable intonation and an evenness of scale that is rare. The upper register is as full as I’ve ever heard and the low register sound remains centered and composed.
I don’t need to make nearly the embouchure adjustments to play these instruments as I had to before.
The alto neck, with its weighted gemstone design, brings an additional level of fine tuning to the sound. I can’t imagine ever wanting another saxophone.
